Organizational Setting and Reporting Relationship: Under the direct supervision of UNPOL or MILITARY officer in charge, the incumbent is responsible for the following duties:
Description of Duties:
• Accompany UNPOL Officers or Military on patrols, to handle language support duties the office, as and when required;
• Interface between the local population and UNPOL and Military to facilitate clear and concise communication between parties in support to operations;
• Provide language support in a calm and unbiased manner when confronted with local conflicts in a policing situation or military patrol activity;
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Competencies:
Professionalism - Ensure punctuality and reliability in daily assignments.
Communication – Ability to speak and write in the required languages in a clear and concise manner.
Technological Awareness – Computer knowledge is an advantage.
Teamwork – Very good interpersonal skills, ability to work in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect diversity.
Qualifications and Experience:
Education - Completion of secondary/high school education with confirmed diploma/certificate.
Work Experience - At least two (2) years of relevant work experience.
Languages - Fluency in written and spoken Creole, English, French and Spanish. Portuguese would be an advantage.
