Duties and Responsibilities

1. Carlog/Fuellog Computer Network Establishment and Maintenance:  The incumbent is expected to work with minimal supervision in the field. His/her duties include:

• Troubleshooting the Carlog computer network and taking corrective action;
• Assist in identifying suitable locations for the expansion of the Carlog network, or readjustment of the active receiving stations as maybe required;
• Assist in identifying and submitting stores request in support of the Carlog/Fuellog systems;
• Assisting in updating computer network diagram and the Carlog duty book.

2. Support to Users of Carlog/Fuellog Software Packages:  In this shared role, the incumbent’s focus is on the customer response and training. His/her duties include:
 
• The installation of System software on user computers. The provision of initial instruction.  Identifying and correcting software problems.
• Becoming an in-house expert on the use of Fleet Log Productivity software and Fuellog user software. Supporting continuous training to users of this software;
• Providing assistance to the Carlog workshop with its in-house Carlog computers.

3. Fuellog Unit Installation and Support: In the position the incumbent will be required to perform duty calls and find workable solution to time sensitive problems. His/her duties will be:

• Installing Fuellog system components at pump and vehicle locations;
• To burn, program, recalibrate and update the Fuellog computer software at pump locations;
• To cover off weekends and holidays as an on-call technician, correcting system faults;
• Training of others in his/her function.


Competencies:

Professionalism – Appreciation of accounting processes and attention to detail.
Technological awareness – Knowledge of Windows NT, Windows 98 and general office software applications; working knowledge of Internet protocols and theory of wave propagation; general awareness of networking fundamentals; developed electrical troubleshooting abilities; and detailed knowledge of the Carlog/Fuellog and components and software a definite benefit.
Communication – Good communications (spoken and written) skills, including the ability to explain and present technical information.
Teamwork – Good interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with people in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.


Qualifications:

Education: Knowledge of formal electrical training, at no less than college diploma level or equivalent.
Work Experience: Four (4) years practical experience working with electrical components and systems. Two years experience with Windows programs, DOS and general software application. Able to grasp new concept and work independently.
Languages: Fluency in written and spoken English. Knowledge of French is an advantage.
